My wife and I purchased this Ford, aka “The Silver Bullet,” from the second owner in Arizona. She has never been a government or corporate owned fleet vehicle and she has never been a work truck. Almost all the mileage is highway miles. The previous owner was retired and had a small pop-up camper that he went on trips with. We have used the truck for traveling from our home in Washington State and back to our seasonal home in Kansas.
All systems on the truck work as they should. She does not burn any coolant or oil between changes. There are no leaks in the entire drive train. The bed under the liner looks brand new. There is no rust anywhere on the body or frame. Interior looks brand new Exterior has three small door dings (see photos) and two very small scratches. Paint looks new. Has clean Car Fax from when I bought her. She has always been garaged and all service maintenance records come with the truck.
All maintenance items have been done way before Ford recommends, i.e. oil changed every 2-3K miles, transmission oil changed every 40K miles, etc. She drives and shifts perfectly and needs nothing in the way of repairs except soon she will need some new tires probably in about 5K miles or so. Also, the passenger suspension upper A-arm rubber boot has a crack in it.
The truck has never broken down on us and has always been truly reliable. The only reason I am selling her is that will be moving out of state soon to a rural location where I have already purchased a 4WD for plowing out in the winter.

She is in truly amazing original condition her name is Granny. I purchased her from the original family in the Seattle area in 2017. I am not a car flipper, I acquired her for my collection of 70/80's Toyotas in which I have six (4 trucks, 2 celicas). She was originally purchased by the Grandmother new, after her passing the son in law took ownership than gave it to his nephew who I purchased her from. She has always been garaged and has the original paint that is perfect, except for one key scratch (shown in pics) the nephew’s girlfriend did it to her during a fight! Ouch! I have always maintained her with genuine oem parts and have all maintenance/ repair records from when I purchased her. I pulled a vehicle history report when I purchased her and she had no accident and or odometer issues. See report above.
She is a true unmolested time machine and everything works as it should. The engine has no noises or leaks. She does not leak or use coolant or motor oil, her cylinders checked out when I purchased her at 160 psi across the board. The cooling system has new hoses, thermostat (Aisin), radiator, water pump (Aisin) and belts. The transmission shifts smoothly. She has all her original glass. All electronics including lights, stereo, sensors and gauges work flawlessly. The interior looks as though it just came off the showroom floor, no fading or dash cracks. The original carpet looks new.
The original paint has a few very small chips (front of hood see pics), one small quarter size ding and the infamous girlfriend scratch! Tires are like new. No Known rust on the body except two small spots on the inside of the trunk easy fix (see pics). She has only one issue since I purchased her and that is a rattling noise coming from the mid underneath to back section of the car when it is cold outside. When you drive and it warms up the noise goes away. She does not make the noise when it is warm outside and you start her up. I think it possibly could be exhaust, catalytic converter or transmission pump. I have been under her numerous times looking for damaged exhaust fittings, brackets etc. and cannot find anything wrong. That's why my suspicions are the cat and or transmission pump but I am very unfamiliar with auto transmissions having never had one in my collection. But she absolutely shifts and drives fine.
The reason she is being sold is that I am in the process of selling my entire collection and will be moving out of state soon to a rural location where I will not have the storage space or storage facilities nearby. I have a clean Washington title in my name. I live in Washington but stay at a home I own in Kansas during part of the year. She is a blast to drive and I have gotten up to 40 mpg on the highway and she always turns a head or two. I am sad to see Granny go but I hope she will go to a good home and last the new owner a lifetime of faithful service. With only 74k on a 22RE that should be no problem!

1979 Toyota 20R 4 Cylinder Pickup 4X4, first year Toyota imported 4wd into the US market. 65,462 original documented miles, 4 speed transmission, manual locking hubs. This is the base model pickup, not the SR5. The only added option at the time of purchase was power steering. Sorry, no AC and no radio time to toughen up!
I am the second owner of “Ol’ Whitey” and purchased him from a Toyota dealer in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2005. I am not a car flipper and he was the first old Toyota in my collection that now consist of two Celicas and four trucks.
The back story on the truck is this: Ol’ Whitey was originally purchased new at a dealership in the bay area by a vintner for his wife. She ended up not liking the truck, so he used the truck around the vineyard (hence the low miles). He eventually traded the truck in to the dealer where I purchased him and the mechanic at Toyota convinced the general manager to clean him up and try to resell him. The dealer told me that when it came in, it was dirty, the front bumper was bent in on the driver’s side, the grill was damaged and the hood was bent up a little. But the overall body was in excellent shape and the mileage was extremely low. They repaired the damage and repainted the truck the original color using a two-stage paint. They put the truck on sale and had it inside on the showroom floor when I purchased it. I bought it immediately since it was the original type of truck I grew up with. I received all the original paperwork and receipts, etc. from the original owner who gave it to the dealer.
This Truck is an excellent example of an original classic. I have always tried to keep everything original. The only alteration I have done was to put in a carpet kit but I have kept the original vinyl floor, which is in excellent shape if the new owner wants to switch it back.
The body of the truck is remarkable. It has three or so tiny chips on the front hood and has a dime size ding on the front driver’s quarter panel. The bed seams have no rust except a small bit on the rear driver’s side as seen in the photos. All things on the truck work as they should. All lights and electronics function properly. He shifts smoothly and does not use any coolant or oil. Cylinders check out at 150 psi across the board. He has no leaks except one extremely small leak between the transmission and transfer case, so small that the fluid level is always the same after a one-year check. He does have some dents in the bed that Toyota did not repair, but none on the body. The tailgate is not original and I have the receipt from the original owner that purchased it from the dealer. The tailgate I always wanted to replace, and it is the one thing I could never find at the salvage yards. They were all too rusted out. The dashboard does have some cracks, as shown in the photos. The Toyo tires are old but still have a lot of tread. They show no cracking, but probably should be replaced in the near future.
There is almost zero rust on the body and the undercarriage as seen in the photos. When I purchased Ol’ Whitey, I had no intention of it ever being a daily driver. He has always been garaged, never off roaded or driven in the rain. I only take him to the store occasionally or on a twenty-minute ride down the highway. I have added a lot of miles to some vehicles in my collection but not to this garage king.
I have recorded all maintenance and repairs and have always tried to use OEM parts when available. The fuel level sending unit would get stuck on the half level on the gauge when I first purchased the truck, so I took it out and cleaned it and it worked fine for years. Then it sat for three years when I was up in Michigan working and now every once in a while, it will stick and will probably need to be cleaned again.
Some things I have done to the truck excluding maintenance items are: Replace clutch master and slave cylinders, replace blower motor resistor and relay, replace voltage regulator, replace all leaf spring bushings x24 (energy suspension poly), replace clutch, pilot bearing, throw-out bearing (Aisin kit), replace rear U joint, replace all vacuum lines, replace accelerator pump diaphragm (OEM Toyota).
Has original carburetor and Federal emissions equipment.
The reason Ol’ Whitey is being sold is that I am in the process of selling my entire collection and will be moving out of state soon to a rural location where I will not have the storage space or storage facilities nearby.
I have a clean Washington title in my name. I live in Washington but stay at a home I own in Kansas during part of the year. He is a blast to drive and everywhere you go people stop you and ask a million questions and want to look inside and out! I want him to go to a good home and I am sure the new owner should have at least another 43 years of reliability and fun. In its current condition, it should last a lifetime. It’s a Toyota 20R for heaven’s sake!

I am the second owner of Ol’ Blue and purchased this truck from the original owner who lived down the street from me. He took very good care of the truck and it was always garaged and all maintenance done. I used to see him in the truck at the community mailbox and I’d be driving my ’79 Toyota 4x4. I always pleaded with him to sell it to me, but he invariably refused. He was retired with his wife and they towed the truck behind their motor home on vacations. He estimated the mileage to be 60K lower than what it read on the odometer. One year later, he agreed to sell it to me because he bought a brand-new Silverado.
I purchased Ol’ Blue in 2005. At that time, he had 200K on the clock and was in remarkable condition. The first owner had the truck repainted because of numerous rock chips from towing and accidentally dumping a load of gravel for landscaping on the side of the bed and not in it—OUCH! When he purchased the truck new, he had made a plywood bed liner (you can see the caulking that got on the bed in the photos), but that bed liner kept the bed in excellent condition.
This truck was the second purchase in my collection. My wife drove Ol’ Blue for a couple of years as a daily driver, but after we moved to a home with a 2-mile gravel road, I started noticing rock chips and retired him to the garage. As indicated by the photos, there is hardly any rust on the truck, except for a small amount in the bed seams. I have neutralized with a rust neutralizer.
The truck shifts smoothly, and the engine doesn’t burn or use any coolant or motor oil. Compression checks out at 150 # 1, 150 # 2, 150 # 3, 148 # 4. After the truck has been sitting a while on cold start-up, he runs a little rough for 30 seconds or so and then clears up and runs extremely well (I believe valve guide seals are a little worn). It has done this since I purchased him. All lights electronics function as they should. I still need to find the charge lamp relay that quit (just affects the warning light).
The body is in excellent shape. It has some normal rock chips on the front and a couple on the shell. There are a few minor, very small dents that I tried to show in the pictures. The interior is almost flawless. I replaced the faded original carpet, but I kept the old one for the future owner. It too is in excellent shape. The dash has one small ½ inch crack on the back of the instrument panel that you can’t see. The factory seats are all original and I put covers on them to protect them when I purchased him.
Tires are in great condition. The original chrome SR5 wheels look new. The air conditioner blows ice cold (I rebuilt the compressor and converted it to R134A). It has the original factory Toyota stereo that works as it should. Has original carburetor and California emissions equipment.
I located the shell in a salvage yard after I purchased the truck and had it professionally repainted to match. Back then, Stockland only offered white, but I thought it would look better to match the blue color. The inside of the shell should be repainted.
I have performed all maintenance on schedule throughout my ownership. The truck has always been garaged and very well cared for. He is mostly a garage king, but I do take him either to the store once in a while or for a highway cruise.
Some things I have done to the truck, excluding normal maintenance items, are as follows: Install new carpet kit; purchase and repaint the original shell; replace muffler; replace alternator, coil and voltage regulator; replace clutch kit and bearings (NACHI, EXEDY JAPAN); replace shocks (KYB); rebuild AC compressor and convert; replace fuel pump; remove and clean EGR system; replace O2 sensor; replace auxiliary accelerator pump and replace all vacuum lines.
The reason Ol’ Blue is being sold is that my wife and I will be moving in the next year or so to a rural location where I will not have the garage space for all my collection nor will I have storage space to rent close to my home. So, it is time to pass them on to new owners who I hope will enjoy them as much as I and my wife have.
I have a clean Washington title in my name. I live in Washington, but stay at a home I own in Kansas part of the year.
Ol’ Blue is definitely a head turner and you will get pestered by strangers everywhere you go!

I am the second owner of this truly great 4Runner. This was my wife’s primary vehicle when we purchased her the 176K miles in 2007. The original owners were a family in Seattle. They traded her in to a Toyota dealer who put it up for auction. A small dealer on the eastern side of Washington where I lived had her in their used car lot, where I would drive by and see her month after month. My wife kept wanting me to buy it for her, so we went and found out it was running terribly (smoking, hesitation, low on power, etc.). So, I got a pretty good deal on her, thinking it was probably a blown head gasket that I would repair. As luck would have it, when I got her back to my shop, I found out the mass air flow meter was bad. I replaced it and she’s run absolutely flawlessly ever since. Don’t let the mileage scare you. The engine runs like brand new. My wife drove it back and forth from Washington to California many times and she was never stranded.
In 2014, at 306K miles, I decided it was time we give her a repaint. I found a small shop that was very expensive, but that did excellent classic car restorations. She wasn’t in bad shape, (She’s never been in an accident, except the front bumper had a dent in it) but she had some fading and lots of rock chips. We had her repainted with top-of-the-line PPG paint to match the original color. All Fixed windows were removed and all parts on body were taken off. I have a list of everything that was replaced. The interior was already spotless. Just one crack in the dashboard and the driver’s seat had a little wear on the original fabric / vinyl. The original carpets are in excellent condition.
Mechanically, the car is in excellent condition. I am not a car flipper and have a collection of 80s to 90s trucks and celicas. I have performed all oil changes every 3K miles and once a year I do a complete tune up and replace all transmission, diff, transfer case fluids. The undercarriage was coated at the dealership when new, so there is minimal surface rust. There is a tiny coolant leak from where the hard pipe meets the water pump on the driver’s side, but it is so minimal (it does not drip) I would not bother with it until the water pump needs replacing. When my wife and I were on business out of town, the clutch throw out bearing went out and I had the shop put in a heavy-duty off-road clutch. The clutch works fine, but is stiff, so you have to get used to it. The transmission shift smoothly in all gears except once in a great while it will be hard to get into 1st from neutral, so I put it into 3rd first and then she’ll drop right into 1st (synchs probably).
She does not burn or use any coolant / motor oil. All electronics and lights function as they should. Tires have lots of tread left. She is all original with no modifications and I have tried to use all OEM parts when available.
Compression in #1 cyl 155; #2 cyl 150; #3 cyl 166; #4 cyl 163.
Some of the major non-maintenance items I have replaced or repaired are as follows. Air flow meter; rebuild and convert AC compressor (blows ice cold); replace read differential with Marlin Crawler stock 4.11; install block heater; water pump (AISIN); exhaust manifold & gaskets; front main oil seal, muffler, radiator, rear coil spring; new Toyota rear wheel bearings and seals; fuel pump (DENZO); transfer case and rear diff seals; and other assorted body things, such as mirrors, door handles, etc. when we had it painted.
Since 2014, when we repainted her, she has become a garage queen. We use her for errands and take occasional trips with her. The reason I am selling is that my wife and I will be moving within a year to a rural location where I won’t have the storage space or storage facilities nearby. So, I’m selling my entire collection of Toyotas. I have a clean Washington title in my name. I live in Washington but stay at a home I own in Kansas part of the year. My wife and I are sad to see her go. She has been reliable, fun, and functional for our 17 years of ownership.
